DESCRIPTION:Santa Monica Chamber members are invited to a special benefit performance of "Bella Gaia" a transformative\, multi-media experience that critics from the Village Voice to Scientific American have called "sublime\," "stunning\," "mystical\," and "breathtaking." Bella Gaia offers a shift in perspective\, blending music\, technology\, and NASA satellite imagery to create a poetic vision of Earth from space. American astronaut John Grunsfeld said\, "Bella Gaia transported me back into orbit\, to feel the beauty and power of earth." \n\nThe Sylvia Earle Ocean Award will also be presented sponsored by the MacGillivray Foundation\, the tribute to renowned oceanographer and conservationist Sylvia Earle was established to inspire filmmakers to shine a light on those working to protect the world's delicate\, life-giving oceans.\n\nSupport for this multimedia performance is made possible with support from mediaThe foundation Inc. and New Roads School. \n\nThe MY HERO Project is a 501(c)3 not for profit educational organization. \n\nSince 1995 MY HERO has been providing teachers and students with a commercial-free\, online multimedia library of hero stories\, art\, films and music that celebrates local and global heroes. Our Media Arts Education Team provides teachers and students around the world with lesson plans\, and resources to create media highlighting the heroes in our midst.\n\nEducators use MY HERO in the classroom\, and in after-school programs\, to enrich learning and to promote global understanding\, environmental awareness\, human rights\, children's rights and\, most importantly\, to give students an opportunity to identify with role models who are working for positive change in the world.
