A portion of the 405 freeway will be closed on the weekend of July 15th - 18th for a construction project. The freeway will be fully closed from the 101 to the 10, for about 60 hours from 7pm on Friday evening, to 5am on Monday morning.
Santa Monica will be one of the communities most impacted by the closure and we want all of you to be prepared and informed. Anticipated impacts are a 25-mile back up into Santa Monica from the north and a 65-mile back up into Santa Monica from the south. This will effect anyone trying to get in or out of Santa Monica on that weekend. Your staff, delivery trucks, your guests etc - will all be impacted. We want to make sure you have adequate information ahead of time in order to be prepared. This is a regional communications effort with similar meetings happening in the communities of Culver CIty, Pasadena, Malibu and LA.
The City of Santa Monica, SMCVB, SMPD, and Santa Monica Chamber will be hosting two meetings on Monday, June 13th at 11 am and 3 pm and ask that you make an effort to send someone from your operations team. Please respond to Melanie Mayer at mmayer@santamonica.com to inform us which meeting you will attend.
